This program brings you internationally renowned research and best-practice information.

Before developing the modules, we reviewed research and international guidelines. From this, we identified the main issues that need to be addressed when supporting children and their families.

We spoke with parents about their experiences with skill regression and included their advice, stories, and quotes throughout the modules and podcasts to ensure the program is relevant and helpful for you.

We developed the program with experienced clinicians, doctors and therapists. Their insights and quotes are woven throughout to support families based on years of professional experience.

How did we as a team decided what to include in this site?

This portal is assembled from 3 sources of knowledge and experience: research and best-practice guidelines, the lived experience of parents and families, and the expertise of health workers.

About Us

Action Lab is a multidisciplinary team of researchers, designers and engineers at the Department of Human-Centred Computing at Monash University. We focus on creating real-world impact, and work at the intersection of people, technology, and social innovation to design solutions that support communities and social change. We joined the Family Focus project with a highly energetic and creative team led by Professor Patrick Olivier.

Our team acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, gather and work. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

We thank all the parents, carers and siblings who contributed their stories, ideas and feedback at different stages of developing this program, many of whom we cannot acknowledge here.

The development and evaluation of this program is funded by the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care.
